Here at Pacific Rock, we’re proud of our Northwestern heritage, and our roots go as deep as the town we call home.
In 1899, an industrialist named C.S. Skinner won approval to establish a fishing outpost on an uninhabited island three miles off the coast of Oregon. The island- which became known for its wild weather and wilder seas- took three years to build on and settle.
But their hard work paid off: In 1902, the Skinner Fish & Canning Company was opened, and the town of Skinner, Oregon was born.
In 1931, the Skinner Fish & Canning Company was purchased by another local family, and eventually renamed J.B. Wylde & Son.
Though they rebranded the company to Pacific Rock in 1977, the Wylde family retains full ownership of the organization to this day- Making Pacific Rock one of the Northwest’s biggest success stories in family (and community)-led enterprises.
Today, Pacific Rock remains the oldest- and largest- employer on the Island. With over 150 team members, dozens of partner boats, and a robust union, we are proud to be an integral part of life in Skinner.
When you buy Pacific Rock products, you’re giving back to a community who loves what they do- bringing the Northwest’s highest quality seafood from our island to your table.
